About VisitBraga.com

An independent guide to Braga, written to be genuinely useful. We are not the tourist board or the city council.

VisitBraga.com is an independent travel guide covering Braga, Bom Jesus do Monte, Guimarães, Peneda-Gerês and the Vinho Verde country. It has no connection to the city council or any tourism body, and it is written to help you plan well before you go and make good decisions when you are there.

What we cover

  • How to get to Braga from Porto, Lisbon and Galicia, with realistic journey times.
  • Which tours are worth booking, ranked honestly and updated as ratings change.
  • What to see in the city, on the hills and across the Minho.
  • Where to stay, from guesthouses near the Sé to grand hotels at Bom Jesus.
  • When to come, and how to plan around Holy Week and the rain.

How we research

Journey times, prices and opening arrangements are checked against operators, transport companies and booking platforms, and reviewed regularly. Tour ratings and review counts come directly from GetYourGuide. Where a figure moves around, such as an entrance fee or a bus timetable, we give a range or tell you to check, rather than pretending to a precision that does not exist.

Where we express an opinion, it is an opinion. We tell you when the choice of tours is thin, when a product is new and unproven, and when a sight is better done on your own.

How the site is funded

We are a GetYourGuide affiliate partner, and accommodation links go to Booking.com. If you book through a link on this site, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That is the only way this guide is funded — there is no advertising, no sponsored placements and no paid inclusion in any ranking. Read the full affiliate disclosure.

Corrections

Prices change, timetables change, hotels change hands. If something here is out of date or wrong, please tell us — we would rather fix it than defend it. Write to us on the contact page.

A guide brings the sanctuaries and the old streets to life, and a day tour takes the trouble out of reaching Guimarães and the mountains. Compare the options and reserve in a couple of taps.
