The Palácio dos Biscainhos was built by a noble family in the 17th century and altered over the following two hundred years. Today, it is a museum that shows how Braga’s aristocracy lived, with furniture, ceramics, textiles and silver displayed in period rooms.
The ground floor has a paved entrance built so that carriages could enter the house, and upstairs the salons have blue-and-white azulejos and painted ceilings. Behind the house, the formal baroque garden with its fountains and box hedges is one of the most pleasant surprises in the city.
